Running the Kaazing WebSocket Tutorial Locally

The Step-by-Step Tutorial of Building a Simple Peer-to-Peer WebSocket Application on walks you through the simple steps of building an HTML5 WebSocket app, demonstrating the power of the publish/subscribe development pattern directly in JavaScript. Our sample is almost as simple as a Chat app, the “Hello World” app of the WebSocket world, but is a tad more visual and dynamic.

If you’re interested in running this demo locally, here are the simple steps to do so:

  1. Download, install, and start up the Kaazing WebSocket Gateway – JMS Edition. If you’re new to Kaazing, you can follow the steps outlined here). The unlimited developer license is free.
  2. Download and extract the contents of your file to your $GATEWAY_HOME/web/extras directory.
  3. Open two browser windows, and point both of your browsers to http://localhost:8001/tutorial.

Voila, the tutorial form JSFiddle is running locally on your machine.
